A quick guide to enjoying your sculptural candle beautifully and safely.

Before You Light Things Up

  • Stand it on a large, level, heat-resistant dish or tray, deep and wide enough to catch every drop.

  • Remove labels and wrapping. Trim the wick to 6 mm.

  • Keep it clear of children, pets, draughts and anything that can catch.

  • Never leave it burning unattended.

  • Never move it while it's lit or the wax is molten.

  • Put it out if the flame grows large or smoky, the candle starts to lean, or wax nears the edge of the tray.

  • Let candle, wax and tray cool completely before touching.

More Helpful Tips

Small sculptures
Burn in short sessions and stay close. Petite doesn't mean predictable.

Giants
More wax, more movement, more drama. Give them the biggest tray you own. Burn for at least an hour so the melt pool spreads and doesn't tunnel, but no more than 3 hours at a time.

Birthday candles
Secure them upright and keep the flame away from paper, flowers and decorations. Light just before singing and put them out before serving. They're here for a good time, not a long time. Remove the candles and any loose wax before eating.

Make the wish first. Cut the cake second.

Caring for your Fable
Keep it cool, dry and out of direct sun, which can soften wax and fade colour. Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Deep colours can mark porous surfaces, so display it on a dish even when it's not lit to protect your furniture and surfaces.

A soft frosted film is beeswax bloom. It's natural, not a flaw. Leave it, or buff it with a soft cloth. Some of us like our wax a little wild.
